| Bailey & Rye |
5 years ago, my then boyfriend decided to get me a dog. I found Bailey through an Alabama breeder and as soon as I saw Bailey's picture with his siblings, I knew that was MY Bailey. But I was the second in line to pick my pup from the litter, I was a mess..constantly checking my emails and praying the other folks did not choose "MY" dog. After 48 hours, they finally picked a different pup and well, I got the most rambunctious, silly, lovable pup of them all. Till today, at 5, he has not outgrown his silliness or hyper activeness. His personality is such a goof and yet a sweetheart. We did all sort of trainings, and he even earned his CGC by the time he turned 1. Yet, if you see him today on the streets, you would never have guessed this excitable pup has a CGC. Bailey is always happy, always loving life..and I mean, ALWAYS.. It's something I feel we could all learn from him every now and then.
Then, 3 years ago, we decided Bailey needed a brother. We adopted Rye out of a high kill shelter in the south and waited eagerly as they transported him to us. Rye was timid and nervous when we first got him but he immediately bonded with Bailey. They were inseparable as soon as they met. Everywhere Bailey went, Rye was like a shadow. Training was easy, because Rye was eager to do everything his big brother could do. Today, Rye is sweet, confident, playful, high energy and a loyal dog. He is still Bailey's little shadow, even though he has definitely outgrown in height and length. And despite having 2 "alpha" personality dogs, they never once fought.
Everyday, I'm thankful for these 2 pups in my life. They taught us to live in the present, to be happy, to be patient, to forgive and to love unconditionally. Now, with a toddler in the mix, it's crazy around here! My kind of crazy life and I would never trade it ;)
